Plans Schmans

My plans never work.  Here I am on the eve of my birthday and all my grand plans kind of tanked.  I'm not a planner.  I'm not a doer.  I'm a go-alonger.  Next time, somebody else needs to plan it.  When I turn forty.  This is the real reason Sean and I never do anything; neither one of us is a planner (though he assures me there will be some form of baked dessert tomorrow night).

But here's what I DID do.  I DID make a bunch of bows that I WILL sell and donate the money.  It won't be by tomorrow, but it will be done.  I DID buy two Angel Tree ornaments from Reece's Rainbow to benefit Fiona and Sabrina, and guess what, Sabrina is HOME.  I HELPED.

And I AM going to donate my hair this weekend, only for some reason I cannot find a place that will cut it for free or discounted.  Boo hoo.  But it IS HAPPENING.  I might even DYE it, even though that has nothing to do with charity, I just figure as long as I'm doing this drastic thing, why not go all out.

And YOU can still help me like my birthday this year.  PLEASE donate to one of the charities listed here, or your favorite charity, or directly to me so that I can make a larger donation once the smaller ones are pooled together.  Or pay for the meal of the person behind you at the drive thru.  Babysit for free.  Find a canned food drive and donate some cans.  Ooh!  Collect Box Tops and donate them to your local elementary school (or your local elementary school student).

Please comment here if you will give me a birthday present of donating or serving somebody else this month or next.  Or both.  I'd love to hear what you plan to do, but you don't have to tell me.  And if you want to send me money so I can support one of my causes in a bigger way, you can find my address on my facebook info page.

Thank you in advance.  I want to make this year a good one, and this is exactly how to start it off right, not just for me, but for you, too.

  1. Happy Birthday Becca! When I turned 40 I wanted to do something special too. I love all that you are doing. I can tell your 30s are going to be some great years ahead for you and those you serve. I have started my own business and in the works to starting my own nonprofit organization. You go girl! I will never forget the way you and your sister served me and my family back in the days of Damascus :)
